What is the difference between training and coaching?

To be able to do something, you must first know it. That is the purpose of training: providing you with the right tools and framework for, for example, what an ideal feedback conversation looks like. Very important in this phase is that we focus on the ‘why’, to properly understand what we are doing and when.

During training, a strong emphasis is already placed on the step from ‘knowing’ to ‘doing’—the skills. Our training sessions are highly interactive and, since we invest a lot of time in building exercises tailored to your sector/product/challenges, you will quickly master the skills of HOW to apply the knowledge in practice.

You know the theory and you have been able to practice, but to become or be a truly good salesperson, you still need to acquire the competency. This is where coaching comes in. There are various forms of coaching that will support you in acquiring a competency (desk coaching, field coaching on the job, etc.). This can be done by an internal coach or manager, but can also be scheduled with an external coach from 4Result. Everything is tailored to your needs.

Who is our leadership training intended for?

Our leadership training is intended for leaders who want to increase their impact. This can range from new team leads to experienced managers, project leaders, and HR professionals who work with people and teams daily. We guide leaders who want to grow in self-insight, clear and connecting communication, and strengthening their team.

The training is particularly valuable for organizations that want to build a coaching culture: an environment where people take responsibility, feedback is seen as normal, and talent is given every opportunity to grow. Participants learn the practical tools of coaching-based leadership, such as asking powerful questions, stimulating ownership, and tackling difficult conversations constructively. At the same time, they discover what authentic leadership looks like in practice: being clear about expectations, remaining human in decisions, and acting congruently, even when things get tense.

In addition, we pay attention to inspiring leadership: how you, as a leader, provide direction, create meaning, and engage others in a story they truly want to connect with.

Our approach is practical, interactive, and tailored to your context. We start from the reality of the participants and immediately translate insights into concrete actions, so that what is learned becomes immediately tangible in daily work.

What is the difference between leadership and management?

Management originally stems from the idea of “administering” and “controlling.” It is about bringing structure, translating plans into actions, following up, and ensuring that processes run smoothly and predictably. It is important because it creates stability and clarity.

Coaching has a very different origin: the word refers to the “coach” or carriage that brings someone from A to B. Coaching in leadership therefore means guiding people in their growth, helping them find their own solutions, and making their potential visible.

Leadership itself goes a layer deeper. It is about providing direction, developing vision, and creating meaning: where do we want to go, why are we doing this, and how do we involve everyone in that process? A leader inspires, makes choices, and sets the example.

In our vision, these are three roles that every leader must learn to combine: managing and structuring where necessary, coaching when someone can grow, and providing direction when clarity and vision are required. No single role is “better” than the others; it is about knowing which approach fits which situation.

That is why we also work intensively with the situational leadership model. It helps leaders to consciously switch between directing, guiding, supporting, and letting go, depending on the maturity, experience, and needs of their team members. This creates a leadership style that is simultaneously clear, coaching-oriented, and inspiring, and that evolves along with the people and the context.
